Interim Programme and Project Manager – Solent Transport

Solent Transport are looking to hire an Interim Programme Manager and a Project Manager progress the Solent Future Transport Zone.
The £28.75m programme will see a range of innovative projects be delivered across the Solent area ranging from the development of a Mobility-as-a-Service platform and bike sharing schemes through to developing solutions to tackle last mile deliveries and using drones for local logistics.

We are seeking an immediate start for up to 6 months with the option then to apply for the Fixed Term roles that will follow on as part of building the team, potentially running to June 2024.
If you have experience in managing projects or programmes, ideally with a background in personal mobility or sustainable freight, are a self-starter and proven to make quick progress then we would like to hear from you.
The day rate is up to £450 per day starting immediately.

Senior Communications Officer – Solent Transport

Sustainable Travel Behaviour Change – Fixed term 3-year contract

Do you think there are alternative ways to travel that could be better for the environment and improve the health and wellbeing of local people? If you do then this could be the role for you. We are looking for a creative Marketing and Communications professional to deliver marketing and communications to support the Solent Future Transport Zone programme funded by the Department for Transport designed to make a substantial impact on the way people travel in in the Solent area. The Solent Transport Zone programme is coordinated by Solent Transport which is a regional transport partnership for the Solent area with Hampshire County Council, Portsmouth City Council, Southampton City Council and IoW.

You would be joining an award-winning project team, who have already raised a high level of awareness for the My Journey sustainable travel brand. You will be running campaigns, getting the message out on multiple channels including bill boards, bus backs and adding your own input to drive the project forwards and achieve a change in travel behaviour.

The role is within the Solent Transport Marketing Communications Team which is hosted by Southampton City Council but operates across the Solent area. You’ll be working with marketing communication representatives from key stakeholders and partners including each of the member local transport authorities, transport operators, charities, schools and workplaces. You will also work closely with the technical teams delivering the individual FTZ projects which includes initiatives such as transport apps, car sharing and e-bikes.

The purpose of this role is to contribute to the delivery of an effective and integrated communications function with the aim of encouraging more people to change their travel behaviour, whilst protecting and enhancing the council’s reputation and brand. You’ll also have your own website and social media channels specific to sustainable travel.

You will be responsible for developing and delivering communications plans, campaigns and other related activity through a range of communication channels, messages and mechanisms including digital to support the strategic priorities of the project.
